The Society for Arts invites you to the exhibition of new paintings by Jacek Palucha in the 1112 Gallery (1112 North Milwaukee Ave., Chicago). The reception will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 6:00 pm.

Jacek Palucha, born in 1966, is at present one of the most celebrated artists of the young generation. He began his artistic career as a musician, vocalist of the well-known pop-rock group "Dead Prk Chops Formation." Now he is a leader of a new group "Coo Band." A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Began exhibiting his works in 1993 in Piment Galleries in Paris. Since then, his exhibitions have been a great success. Today his works can be found in numerous prestigious collections in Europe. Although Palucha's paintings have a definite Polish sensibility, his success in Western Europe and the United States proved that his work is a venue four universal meaning.

Palucha's paintings depict grotesque of the human condition at dawn of a new millennium. Bright contrasting colors, clear composition of the space, and child-like distortions of the perspective make one think of comic strips. These cartoon-like paintings whimsically convey stories from everyday life in cities, provincial towns and villages. Some elements, while being purely surrealistic, help the artist make more complex social commentaries. All Palucha's works mock the routine social behavior, disclose human weaknesses and absurdity of surrounding world.

This is the fourth showcase of Palucha's works at the Society for Arts. After his smashing U.S. debut in 2001 the artist has bee widely applauded both by art critics and popular audiences.

Thirty most recent paintings will be on view until January 30, 2006. For more information, please call 773.486.9612 or visit the Society's website: www.societyforarts.com.
